Durable Dog Toys for Yorkies: Chew Proof Choices Here
Okay, so yesterday I spent the entire afternoon figuring out the best dog toys for my Yorkie, Peanut. You know, those tiny little fluffballs can be surprisingly picky!

First things first, I hit up Google. Started with the basics: "best dog toys for Yorkies." Got a ton of lists, mostly from pet stores trying to sell me everything under the sun. I ignored the sponsored stuff and focused on blogs and forums where actual Yorkie owners were sharing their experiences.
I noticed a few trends right away:
- Size matters BIG TIME. Anything too big is just frustrating for them.
- Durability is key. Those little teeth can be surprisingly sharp!
- They love squeaky toys, but I'm not sure my sanity can handle a constant barrage of squeaks.
Next, I went to the local pet store. I wanted to actually see the toys in person. The online pictures can be so misleading! I picked up a few different types:
- A tiny, soft plush toy with a squeaker (because I'm a glutton for punishment).
- A small, rubber ball with little nubs for chewing.
- A rope toy – seemed good for their teeth.
The real test started when I got home. Peanut was super excited, naturally. I gave her the plush toy first. She went NUTS for it. Squeaked it like crazy, shook it, the whole nine yards. I lasted about ten minutes before I had to hide it. My ears were ringing!
Then, I introduced the rubber ball. She sniffed it, gave it a few tentative licks, and then started chewing on those little nubs. She seemed to like it! It kept her occupied for a good twenty minutes. That's a win in my book.
Finally, the rope toy. She wasn't as interested at first. I tried playing tug-of-war with her, but she's so tiny it was more like tug-of-gentle-pull. She chewed on it for a bit, but it didn't hold her attention for very long.
My verdict? The rubber ball was the clear winner. It's durable, keeps her entertained, and doesn't drive me crazy with squeaks. The plush toy is good for short bursts of play, but definitely not an all-day option. The rope toy... well, maybe she'll grow into it.
What I learned: Don't trust the online reviews completely. Every dog is different. Trial and error is the best way to find the perfect toy. And maybe invest in some earplugs.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try making my own toy. I saw a DIY tutorial online for a braided fleece toy. Wish me luck!
