Okay, let's talk about finding toys for my little Chihuahua, Pip. It turned out to be quite the adventure, not just a quick trip to the store.

When I first brought Pip home, I just grabbed a few standard dog toys I saw at the pet shop. You know, a smallish tennis ball, one of those little rope things for tugging, maybe a generic squeaky plush. I thought, "Dog toys, simple enough." Well, Pip had other ideas.

So, back to square one. I started really watching Pip. What did he like to do? He loved chasing things, anything small that moved fast. He liked chewing, but gently. And he definitely responded to high-pitched squeaks.

I realized I needed to think specifically for a Chihuahua. Size was the biggest factor. Everything had to be scaled down. Much smaller than even the "small dog" toys sometimes.

• Latex squeaky toys: Found some super small latex toys shaped like little animals. They have a unique texture and a loud squeak he goes crazy for. These aren't for heavy chewing, more for fetch and squeaking.

Trial and Error Time

I brought the new haul home. Introduced them one by one. The tiny fox plush with three squeakers? Instant favorite. He pounced, shook it like crazy, carried it everywhere. Success!
